TBSMSF - Tampa Bay Surveying and Mapping Scholarship Fund, Inc.

This scholarship fund was started in 1989 with the purpose of providing scholarships to students pursuing a degree in surveying and mapping (Geomatics). The Fund began as The Hillsborough Land Survey Scholarship Fund and later changed its name to the current Tampa Bay Surveying and Mapping Scholarship Fund (the Fund) as being more representative of the professional and the geographic area it wished to serve.

The Fund is a 501(c)3 corporation under Internal Revenue Service rules. (Documentation available via link from this site) The corporate address is 5915 Lake Luther Road, Lakeland, Florida 33805.

The Fund will receive applications from and may grant scholarships to students enrolled or about to enroll in a course of study leading to a 4-year degree in Geomatics.

The Fund was set up primarily for students who reside in the Tampa Bay area but students living elsewhere will be considered if funds are available. Scholarships are paid after a student has completed an approved course with a grade of "C" or better.

There are seven Directors for the Fund. All Directors serve on a voluntary basis for a period of two years. Two Directors are appointed by the Tampa Bay Chapter of the Florida Surveying and Mapping Society, and two Directors are appointed by the West Coast Land Surveyors Association. These four Directors meet and elect a Chairman who then appoints the final three Directors. The Board of Directors then elects a Vice-Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer. This way the Board has adequate representation from the local surveying community on which it depends for support.

The Board also appoints any sub committees that it feels are appropriate such as:
